Voices in the Vines (and Beyond): Coaching Sara Wiseman
I’ve had the absolute joy of working with Sara Wiseman on not one, but two very special projects—Under the Vines and Harrow. Sara isn’t just a supremely talented actress—she’s also a dear friend. We played best friends in the film The Insatiable Moon years ago, and we’ve called each other “bestie” ever since. So when she calls me in to work on a new role, it always feels like a creative reunion.
Under the Vines – Finding Strength Through Subtlety
In Under the Vines, Sara plays Simone Oakley—a British lawyer navigating a crumbling marriage and a completely new life among New Zealand vineyards. Her character needed to sound polished and professional, but with layers of vulnerability underneath. It was important that Simone’s voice never felt cold, just contained. Over three seasons, Sara’s vocal work matured with the character—becoming warmer and more rooted in each episode.

- Standard British (Contemporary RP): Clear, professional tone to reflect her legal training
- Subtle tonal shifts: As Simone softens emotionally, so did the voice—slightly less clipped, slightly more open

Harrow – Forensic Drama with a British Edge
In Harrow, Sara made a one-off appearance in this high-tension forensic drama. Although the series is set in Australia, her character was British, requiring a measured, authoritative tone that fit the pace and intensity of the show. The accent needed to feel natural and authentic, without ever pulling focus.
